Paris – September 28, 2015

Today we are going to ride the Hop on Hop off bus.  Our first stop is going to be Monmarte as it was the area we didn’t get to spend much time in when we were here before.

We get off the bus at the Moulon Rouge stop and wander around here for bit.

Then we start walking up the side streets.  Steady uphill but not too bad.

The next thing we know we are coming up to Sacre Coeur with this view of Paris.

DSC_9268The sun is shining again.  It is chilly in the shade and when the wind blows.  We are enjoying standing at the top listening to a harpist play on the steps and basking in the sun.  Very pleasant.

Starting down the stairs.  We heard that there are 300 steps down to the bottom.  We didn’t come up them, so we will go down this way.

The vendors seem to be less aggressive than when we were here before.  The exception to this are the guys that try to tie a bracelet onto your wrist and then want payment.

There are lots of people enjoying the day.

As we make our way back to the bus stop.  There a number of “Shell Games” going on in the street.  Lots of interest in them.  Fifty Euro notes being thrown back and forth between betters and the shell gamers.   Each game has a few spectators/customers ie: partners in crime that try to get marks to be interested as it is so easy to double your 50 Euros.  Yea, not these tourists 🙂

Back on the bus we travel on the top deck through the streets of Paris.  It is definitely chilly in the shaded streets.

I love the Parisian roofs.

We get to Passerelle Léopold-Sédar-Senghor, which is a pedestrian bridge across the Seine.  It is covered in padlocks.

DSC_9346The lovers padlocks.  According to Wikipedia “Typically the sweethearts’ names or initials are inscribed on the padlock, and its key is thrown away to symbolize unbreakable love”

The peddlers are into the action now, selling padlocks right on the bridge.

Champs-Élysées back to normal

After a ham and cheese crepe and a beer at a food stall along the Champs-Élysées while sitting on a sunny park bench, we get back on the bus.  It will now loop around the Eiffel Tower and shortly after that we will switch lines to get one that will take us near our hotel.

Today the Eiffel Tower has Pink Ribbon flags flying.  They were not there yesterday.

We come back in the evening to see the tower lighted up.

A surprise for us.  At 8:20 the tower turns Pink.  Another sign to support Breast Cancer awareness.  Pretty special for our last night in Paris!!

We took the Metro here, so we hop back on to go back to our hood for dinner.

This is our last night in Paris, our last night in Europe, our last night of our 2015 Adventure!  We are flying home tomorrow.  It has been an amazing adventure.  Thank you for joining us and forgive me if some of the posts were too long.  I want this blog to be our “Travel Diary” as well.  😉

Our Paris memory of ham & cheese crepes was the guy mixing it up with his fingers before he put it in the pan to cook……lost my appetite!
