Our B&B has a breakfast menu. On it, among other things is a Full Irish and a Mini Irish. We both choose the Mini. It consists of 2 eggs, three rashers of bacon (not the side bacon that we use most, but back bacon, what we call Canadian bacon, we have had this for bacon since we arrived in Scotland, so I have no idea why we call it Canadian bacon???) and 1 sausage. As well a basket of toast that is probably 6 slices of bread!! I can not imagine what the regular size Irish is!!! This is the exterior of the Blue Door B&B. Our room is flanked by the flags.
We program Google maps to take us the slow route to Wicklow as it less than 100 km away.
We get off the route for a bit and come to this cool little tree tunnel.
We come to Ardamine Church. We stop because there is a cemetery here with very old gravestones all tilting in different directions.
Not long after we see an old car that we haven’t seen before. More photos are necessary! It is a Humber Hawk, a four-cylinder automobile manufactured from 1945 to 1967 by British-based Humber Limited. It reminds me of the Harry Potter flying car.
We arrive fairly early in Wicklow. Bonus, our room is ready. We are in another historical house. It was the home of:
Robert Charles Halpin, Master Mariner, born 16 February 1836 at the Bridge Tavern Wicklow, Ireland – 20 January 1894 and died at Tinakilly, Wicklow. He captained the Brunel-designed leviathan SS Great Eastern which laid transoceanic telegraph cables in the late 19th century. He was, arguably, one of the most important mariners in the 19th century. He helped make the world a global village by connecting empires and continents via submarine telegraph cables – in effect constructing the Victorian age communication network.
We walk about 100 meters to The Bridge Tavern (where Robert Halpin was born) for a pint and a bite to eat.

After a bit of a walk we come back to the B&B to sort out our plans for tomorrow. We book passage on the ferry from Dublin to Holyhead in Wales and a B&B there as well. We think we might see if we can get another night there as there are sights that might interest us there. We’ll see.
After that is sorted we head back out and plan to walk to the Wicklow Golf Course. We get there eventually, but have and amazing travel brochure weather so we take a lot more photos!! 🙂
We are going back to the Bridge Tavern tonight. It is our last night in Ireland we want to hear some Irish music. Hopefully that is what they have for us.
