Addendum to Quito

La Rosario was a very nice little Hostal. It was squeaky clean. As in a lot of tropical countries ceramic tile is a common building material. Sound just echos through the hallways. It is also a bit quirky in design. In our room we had a high that opened onto the hallway and a window in our shower that opened onto what I thought was an atrium. We would close both of these windows at night to cut down on any echos.

One evening returned back from dinner and I decided to close the window in the shower. I was standing (fully clothed) in the shower ready to reach up and close the window, when I heard a woman speaking and they I saw her bend down to our open window and say to someone “Is that our bathroom?” She was a north american based on her English. I reply “No” and she says “Oh, I’m sorry” as I am closing the window.

I discovered that even when closed I could open it from the stairway. I wasn’t tall enough to latch it. LOL
