March 23, 2019 – Evening

There is a street near to our hostal that is lined with food vendors.  We have heard that is has some excellent food so we walk to the main street to find it.  When we get there we are amazed.  The whole street is lined with restaurants.  In the evening they fill the street with tables and display their wares on tables at the curb.  They all have people standing in front trying to convince you that their food is the best.  The street is about 2 blocks long and walking from one end to the other is like running the gauntlet.

After a bit of discussion we choose our place.  We order a seafood platter for 4 and cut a deal for $50 for the 4 of us.

A single young woman sits at the end of our table.  She is from Denmark and has been travelling with a friend who recently left for home.  She is here making the most of her last few days.  Diving & snorkeling.

The Ecuardorian election is tomorrow. There is an alcohol prohibition for about 72 hours. Our host sells us 2 Inca Colas (which taste like Cream Soda) and pours us beer in dark glasses so that we don’t draw attention. 🙂

She had also been to Banos and as she is Danish we ask her if she went to the Danish restaurant while in Banos.  She did, she says “the woman was just awful.  I was in a hurry to take a tour and just wanted a coffee.  She kept talking and didn’t make my coffee.”  Too funny, so similar to our experience.
